Dr. George Cierny is the first orthopedic surgeon in the United States to apply and publish the principles of cancer treatment to the field of musculoskeletal infections. His multidisciplinary team has developed a comprehensive approach for the treatment of complex infections of bone and soft tissue, the non-union of long bones, segmental bone loss, leg-length discrepancies, tumors and other limb-threatening conditions. He is current president of the Musculoskeletal Infection Society of North America and a renowned physician and scientist in the area of reconstructive surgery in sepsis.
Dr. Cierny was born in San Diego, California. He attended the University of California at Berkeley for his Bachelor of Arts and the University of California School of Medicine, Los Angeles for his Doctorate of Medicine. Following a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas, Dallas (Parkland Hospital), his education continued with fellowship training in clinical pathology, orthopedic oncology and the methods of Gabriel Ilizarov (Lecco, Italy). Dr. George Cierny is an international Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and has published over 100 scientific papers and book chapters in the field of musculoskeletal pathology and infection.

Dr. DiPasquale first earned a diploma in nursing from the Henry Ford School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan. At George Washington University in Washington, DC, she received a Bachelor of Science, her Doctorate of Medicine, and internship and residency training in orthopedic surgery. With a vast experience in the field of orthopedic trauma and clinical fellowships in both musculoskeletal sepsis (Atlanta, GA) and the methods of Gabriel Ilizarov (Lecco, Italy and Kurgan, Russia), Dr. Doreen DiPasquale has held numerous academic positions, including:
